FaToSH IRC Network

Rules:
The following constitutes the general rules for using the FaToSH Network. Please note that IRC Operators reserve the right to remove a user's access at any time.

IRC is a privilege - NOT a right. IRC is not a democracy. The 1st Amendment, while appreciated and supported, fails to apply if you break our rules. If you do, be prepared to be dealt with.

IRC operators here are entirely volunteer and do a lot of hard work for little thanks. Have the consideration to show them some basic respect. They ARE in charge.

1) Swearing and Vulgarity.
While an occasional vulgar word can be forgiven, there won't be a lot of swearing tolerated in general-audience, network-sponsored channels. This will be policed via bots and other permanent issues. You can do as you see fit in your own channel, but please keep your language clean in network-sponsored channels. This network is of mixed ages, so there may be minors about.

2) Pornography/Cybersex. This network will permit a limited number of adult-only channels. Channels created for the explicit advertisement or trading of pornography will NOT be permitted (see our guideline on ADVERTISING). Channels containing adult language and content must have "ADULT ONLY 18+" as the first part of the topic, and must be actively monitored to bar minors from entrance and participation. Failure to abide by either of these rules will result in the permanent banning of both the channel and the founder.

There will be absolutely no mention, trading of, or advertising of pornography in general-audience public channels. This includes advertising the adult-only channels present on the network. Folks can find these channels themselves, by executing the /list command.

CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IS STRICTLY OUTLAWED, AND ANYONE OR ANY ENTITY FOUND TO BE DEALING IN SUCH WILL BE REPORTED TO THEIR HOME COUNTRYS' POLICE FORCE, WITH PROOF THAT THEY ARE ABUSING THE "PROTECTION OF CHILDREN" ACT OF 1996.

We believe hentai to be mainly pornographic in nature. As this violates our rule against pornography, we would prefer that talk about it be limited to private conversations or private rooms. Links to hentai will not be allowed in public, however. Limited discussion of the topic will be allowed although not encouraged.

3) Advertising. Advertising (also known as "spamming") of channels, websites, or anything else is strictly prohibited.

If you wish to create your own channel centered around a website or subject and wish to advertise it in its own topic, feel free to do so. The only exceptions to this portion would be:

A) Advertising another IRC Network
B) Advertising another hosting company. FaToSH has its own in-house hosting company

If you were in our shoes, you certainly would not want us doing the same on YOUR network.

PLEASE NOTE: If you violate our "no advertising" rule, you WILL be billed! This includes the company you may be advertising.

4) Warez. Warez, since it is illegal, is prohibited. No exceptions. Violation of this rule will earn a short-term ban the first time, and a permanent ban thereafter.

5) Hacking, Phishing, Carding, etc. All of these subjects are illegal; therefore, you may not create a channel about such subjects nor may you discuss them in any channel on FaToSH. Discussion of the prevention of such activities is permitted. Should you feel the need to discuss these subjects further, please take them to private messages. Violators will find themselves first warned, then banned.

6) Illegal drugs. As per the continuing theme of these rules, the discussion of illegal drugs, in a promotional manner, in public channels, is prohibited. The discussion of drug rehabilitation or discouraging use of illegal drugs is permitted. The occasional song lyric mention of illegal drugs is allowed, within reason. If you feel the need to go further, please take the discussion to private messages.

7) Bots. Eggdrop bots and script bots are welcome as long as they are registered and abide by our extended Bot Guidelines.

Most add-on script bots, for the purpose of, say, trivia, do not need to be registered. However, do please be aware that warbot add-ons and YBBots are NOT allowed. Those found running such add-ons will be immediately, and permanently, banned.

8) Cloning. Each user is allowed three (3) connections at any one time. Abuse of this privilege will earn first a warning, then a ban of limited time. Repeated abuse of this privilege will result in a permanent ban. Please note that we reserve the right to remove ANYONE at ANYTIME without an excuse.

9) File Servers. File servers, as a rule, are not permitted here. Simple DCC of files from one person to another is not considered a file server. Make sure you know the difference ahead of time.

10) Wingate/Proxy servers. Wingate, open Socks, and other Proxy servers are strictly prohibited. YOU WILL BE BARRED IF YOU HAVE OPEN SOCKS OR PROXY SERVERS. If you find yourself being banned for having such a server, you will have to write to kline@fatosh.net in order to work it out.

11) Scripts. Scripts are allowed as long as they are not malicious and do not lead to the harm of this network. War scripts and the like are strictly prohibited.

12) Flooding. Flooding of channels, other users, or the network in general is strictly prohibited. First offense will result in a short-term ban; continued offenses will result in a permanent ban. Flooding of an IRCOp, other Network Administrator, or the network in general will result in a PERMANENT BAN. This includes anyone observed connecting/disconnecting a minimum of 5 times within 5 minutes. 13) Harassment. Everyone of any age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, creed, or race is welcome here. This network strictly prohibits any sort of harassment, including racial slurs, stalking, religious slurs, or any other behavior which results in a user or users feeling harassed.

Harassment of this network, its users, or Administrators in any way shape or form, will not be tolerated, either on this network or in any online accessible forum. This includes harassment in the form of frequent /whois's, ctcp's, and the like.

The first verified complaint will result in a short-term ban; continued harassment will result in both a permanent ban and a complaint filed with the perpetrator's ISP.

NICKNAMES, TOPICS AND CHANNEL NAMES. FaToSH is a family network for ALL ages; therefore, the mention or use of prohibited subjects (see above) in nicknames, public channel names, or public channel topics is strictly prohibited. FaToSH Networks will not be held responsible for the mention of such subjects in a private manner. Nicknames or channel names violating this rule will be rendered unavailable. Channel operators will be asked kindly to change such references in their channel topics and, shall a channel operator not be available, the channel's topic will be altered by the IRC operators and/or the channel marked private (+p) or secret (+s).

If you have a question about anything not covered here, ask one of the administrators before creating channels or engaging in the activity. All administrators who are available will be found in channel #OperHelp. That is the best way to keep things fun for all :) You can email the founders if you rather have your questions answered privately.
